I am Juan Pablo López, a dedicated and versatile bilingual journalist passionate about delivering impactful news stories. My journey in journalism began with a solid educational foundation. I hold a Bachelor of Arts in Print/Digital Journalism with a minor in Political Science and Diplomacy from the University of Central Florida, complemented by a Technical Certificate in Digital Media Video Production and an Associate of Arts degree from Valencia College. Consistently achieving Dean's List recognition for my academic performance, I was driven to pursue further education.

I am undertaking a master's journey at Georgetown University, pursuing a Master of Professional Studies in Journalism. This endeavor allows me to deepen my knowledge and refine my skills in the field, enabling me to be even more effective in my journalistic pursuits.

Throughout my career, I have gained valuable experience that has shaped me into a proficient and multi-skilled journalist. As a News Producer at CBS 19 News WOIO and Telemundo Cleveland WTCL, my role allowed me to write, produce, and present news stories in English and Spanish. I've collaborated with a dynamic team to create compelling content, translating live breaking news for Telemundo Cleveland when needed and coordinating reports and news specials.

My commitment to journalism extends beyond my work experience. I've served as a News Editor at Nicholson Student Media, managing a team of eight reporters and contributing to various digital content production. Additionally, I've worked as a Multimedia Producer and reporter at Knight News, producing, writing, and editing short-form video stories and managing content distribution across various platforms.

During my internship with El Osceola Star Newspaper, I supported editors in diverse tasks, from writing sidebars for features to covering original community stories on tight deadlines. This experience has cultivated my strong editorial and storytelling skills.

As a journalist, I am fluent in English and Spanish, trained in AP style, and proficient in news production systems such as ENPS and Edius. I bring extensive photojournalism and video production skills and the ability to create engaging digital content. My expertise includes enterprise reporting, SEO insights, and experience with data visualization tools like Datawrapper. Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite rounds out my skill set.

Latinx and Hispanic voter influence in the 2020 presidential election

For sophomore psychology major Serena Somberg, not only was the 2020 presidential election a critical election for her as a first-time voter, it was also a critical election as a Latinx-voter. “The fact that this may be the most important election in my lifetime makes me feel anxious but also proud that I, along with a growing group of Hispanic/Latinx voters, could make such a significant impact,” Somberg said. Somberg is part of the largest racial minority voting bloc to participate in the up
